Purpose: This assignment will give you the experience of developing a marketing and promotion of a product or service for an international market that aligns with the selected channel to market It allows you to understand how products and services are promoted and build the practical skills to do this in the workplace.
Requirements: This is a significant assessment containing two parts: a final marketing, price setting, distribution and promotional activity plan and a final presentation of the report with any adjustments after feedback has been received. For this assessment, you may use the report you presented in semester 1 or you may elect to create a new report.
Part 1 - Due Week 13:You will need to deliver a marketing and promotional activity report which confirms the channel to market and the adoption of that channel. Having made that decision, you will need to discuss the main points you need to agree with the chosen partner, such as supply agreement, pricing policy, marketing and promotional plan. It is suggested that you highlight the main headings that will need attention, using dot points and sub-headings as needed. This is an opportunity to create a comprehensive international distribution report, basing an expansion programme around an export concept. Where there are alternatives, explain the alternatives and the reason you have selected your method. To ensure a complete report is supplied, the following points must be addressed: Pricing methodology for the selected market Supply agreement What criteria were used to identify the target market Selection of the correct marketing strategy and how it was determined How you made the final selection of target market (country, not demographic) and what criteria were addressed to make the selection. What promotional strategy you selected and why. What trade barriers may be in effect, or FTA’s that may assist and how they will help. Other issues as required through the selection of your specific market, such as packaging weights and colours or business and social cultural barriers. The plan should be no more than 3,000 words – however may include graphs, and / or tables in addition to the word count.
This plan will be handed in, in hard copy, during class in week 13. Your teacher will mark it and return it in week 14, with face to face discussion regarding the quality of the plan and opportunities for strengthening the concepts presented. The plan must also be submitted through turnitin, by 23.59 on the night before your week 13 class.
Part 2 - Due Week 15: You will be required to prepare and deliver a 10 minute presentation on your plan. The presentation will be based around the plan, but will incorporate any feedback received in week 14 on the return of your report.
Scope: You must complete this assignment on an Australian business that has been the recipient of an Australian Export Award – See http://www.exportawards.gov.au/. You must not use the same company as another group so companies will need to be registered with your teacher by Week 5. You may use the reports and presentations presented during S1 as a base, or you may select a new target market and company.
You will need to have a reasonable understanding of the products and or services of the business so you should select a business which has a reasonable amount of information on their website
